Mickey and Minnie starred in Steamboat Willie back in 1928. This was one of the first-ever cartoons with sound and was the start of 95 amazing years together as Mouse and Wife. It’s a little-known fact that Minnie and Mickey were married in their “private life”. There was never an onscreen wedding for the two, but Walt Disney admitted in 1933 that the mice were in fact married. Well, now the two most famous cartoon characters are going through a tough divorce.

Mickey and Minnie Divorce After 95 Years

It’s hard to fathom that Disney would support a divorce between Mickey and Minnie Mouse. However, the reason behind it makes a lot of sense and is rather sad. This came as a shock to the world, especially with Figment replacing him. However, when you look at the legal situation, it makes sense.

So why are Mickey and Minnie getting divorced? This comes down to things getting stale between the couple. Every Mickey and Minnie adventure is the same. They are planning something extravagant, then there is a disruption in the middle of it. Eventually, they overcome the obstacles and it ends happily ever after. According to an internal source, it’s a storyline that has been played up too many times.

Meanwhile, it’s been rumored that Donald and Minnie are seeing each other as well. This opens the door to far more storylines for Disney.
