Get Free Genie+ at Disney By Donating Blood Inside The Parks

Back in 2010, Disney launched the Give a Day, Get a Disney Day program. This allowed people to volunteer their time at specific places and were rewarded with a free one-day park ticket to Disney World or Disneyland. This was a great volunteering initiative. Disney World now has a new volunteering program. If you donate blood at Disney World, you get free Genie+ for the day!

There continues to be a shortage of blood donations across the United States. A lot of companies and states are implementing programs to encourage blood donation for healthy people. They often offer a reward for donating blood. This can come in the form of free food, cash, gift cards, and so on, depending upon the sponsor.

Disney is getting involved in blood donation. According to a new program at Disney World, if you donate your blood, you can get a free day of Genie+. This program is being implemented directly because of the shortage of blood in the United States. Disney is coming to the table with a new way to encourage those who are able, to donate blood at Disney World in exchange for free Genie+.

How to Donate Blood at Disney World?

Disney is setting up their first blood donation center inside Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café. The new donation area is where Sonny Eclipse used to play his famous Astro-Organ. As you can see in the image below, the stage where Sunny performs is now curtained off. This is the location of the first blood donation center inside Disney World. Despite that, Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café continues to be open and serve food. Guests just don’t get to watch Sonny Eclipse perform.

Blood donation in Disney World will be run by The Red Cross. In order to donate blood at Disney, there will be a screening process. It will follow any standard blood donation procedure. For more information on the requirements to donate blood, please visit The Red Cross website for more information here. Disney will follow these guidelines to ensure the safety of their guests and those donating blood.

If you qualify to donate blood, there will be a queue that starts inside Cosmic Ray’s and will continue outside. Currently, they only have the ability to draw blood from three patients at one time. Because of this, we expect the lines for donating blood at Disney to wrap around Tomorrowland until they add more locations for blood donation.

How Do I Get Free Genie+ at Disney World?

Those that take time out of their Disney day to donate blood, will be rewarded with a free day of Genie+. Once you finish donating blood, you will be given a coupon code to redeem for Genie+ in your My Disney Experience app. The caveat is the free Genie+ coupon code is only good for 7 days from when you get it. So if you donate blood at Disney, you get a week to use the free Genie+ coupon you were given.

The Red Cross has a limit of one blood donation every 56 days for an individual. That means those who are Annual Passholders can donate blood up to 6 times a year for free Genie+. Also, the Genie+ pass is only valid for one person, it does not apply to everyone in your party. However, that’s still a $10-20 value for taking a few minutes to donate your blood.

As mentioned earlier, Disney will add more blood donation centers inside their parks. We don’t have specific locations yet, however, we expect at least one blood donation center per park, likely more depending on demand. This is the only way to get Genie+ for free at Disney World, so we expect it to draw long lines. Plus, you are doing a good deed.
