The Haunted Mansion is one of the most popular attractions at Disney World. In fact, it became more popular with the announcement of a Coco scene coming to the ride as we reported here. The ride debuted at Disneyland in 1969 and at Disney World in 1971. It’s a classic attraction and well-loved. So well-loved, there is a second Haunted Mansion movie this year. So why are people getting kicked out because of Haunted Mansion?

The Famous Stretching Room Creates Controversy

One of the most popular parts of the Haunted Mansion isn’t even on the ride, it’s in the queue. The stretching room is one of the most well-known places in all of Disney World. Guests love the concept of the stretching room. The visual appearance of the stretching room is amazing. In fact, it impresses people the first time in the room and the 100th time.

Anyways, what is getting people in trouble though is the famous stretching room speech given by Paul Frees. If you’ve been in the stretching room next to someone who loves the ride, you’ve probably heard them saying the spiel along with the narrator and this is causing problems.

Guests saying the stretching room spiel along with the narrator in the Haunted Mansion has become one of the all-time biggest bush league moves at Disney World. In fact, guests who know and love the ride love to show it off. They say every word from “Welcome foolish mortals to the Haunted Mansion”, all the way through the end, “And let’s all stay together, please”. This is creating serious controversy and outrage.

Why is This Problematic?

Imagine it’s your first trip to Disney World. You want to get an authentic experience. However, some schmuck beside you is saying the stretching spiel alongside the official audio track. This clearly takes away from the experience of the ride and puts the attention on that individual reciting it. This has made guests so angry, it has led to full-on brawls. In fact, people reciting the pre-show spiel at the Haunted Mansion has caused more fights than people cutting in lines.

Because of this, Disney has had enough. Anyone heard reciting the stretching room spiel in the stretching room is subject to removal from the park. Yes, Disney may kick you out for reciting the spiel with the announcer. This is to prevent future altercations as well as allow guests to peacefully enjoy the experience without some know-it-all, Annual Passholder pro ruining it.

Disney has the right to throw you out of the park if caught. The good news is, this will not result in a permanent ban from the parks. In fact, you will only be kicked out of Disney World for the day. However, repeated offenses could lead to an ultimate lifetime ban from Disney World. It’s likely this rule will apply to other rides with pre-shows like Tower of Terror, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, and especially DINOSAUR. We highly suggest you stop ruining people’s vacations by reciting rides, preshows, and anything else at Disney World.

The article says it. People reciting the spiel annoy others in the crowd who are trying to experience the ride, some for the first time. Common courtesy. Too bad so many don’t get that.
