Monsters, Inc. is one of Disney/Pixar’s most popular movies. In fact, it brought in nearly 600 million in the US box office. It remains a classic, comfort movie for kids and families. Ever since it came out, people have been begging for a ride based on the door scene from the movie. Luckily, it was just announced that a Monsters, Inc. door ride is coming to Disney World.
Hollywood Studios has seen a lot of changes over the past few years, some good, and some bad. There are also a lot of plans for the future of the park. For example, the announcement that Galaxy’s Edge will close permanently. Also, a lot of people were excited that the famous Sorcerer’s Hat is returning to the park. However, there is far more excitement for the innovative Monsters, Inc. door ride, coming soon to Hollywood Studios.
Monsters, Inc. Door Chase Ride
One of the most requested movie scenes to be turned into a ride is the Polar Express. Luckily, we reported on Disney turning that into a ride here. The door scene in Monsters, Inc. is a close second and luckily Disney is turning that into a ride too. It will be a thrilling roller coaster that uses innovative technology, allowing guests to swing back and forth while on the ride.
The new ride will be called “Monsters, Inc. Door Chase”. It will be a roller coaster that recreates the swinging door scene from the movie. Essentially, you, Mike, Sully, and Boo are trying to safely get Boo back to her door. However, Randall has other plans and is trying to stop you. Throughout the ride, you will relive many of the most famous scenes from the movie.
While on the ride you will go through various doors as you attempt to get Boo back home. This includes going through the houses in Paris and Hawaii for example. Eventually, you will get to Boo’s door and see Sully and Boo fight Randall. The ride ends with you successfully getting Boo back home and celebrating with Mike and Sully.
Additional Monsters, Inc. Ride Details
The ride cars will look like doors from the Monsters, Inc. movie. Guests will load into a suspended roller coaster, where the car hangs from the track above them. Also, your feet will hang down, with no floor below you. Monsters, Inc. Door Chase will have sudden drops, stops, and sharp turns. Expectant mothers should not ride.
What makes this roller coaster extra special is the ride cars will swing back and forth as you fly down the track. This adds to the thrill and makes the turns feel even sharper. In fact, according to an internal source, this will be one of the most thrilling roller coasters at Disney World. There will also be a freefall moment. This happens when Randall disconnects your door from the latch, sending you falling. This part of the ride will feel a lot like the Tower of Terror and will be one of the most thrilling parts of the entire ride.
This new ride will be a mix between Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and Tower of Terror. It’s expected to be thrilling, yet appeal to the families. Many people are excited for this new door-swinging roller coaster as it brings the fun of Monsters, Inc. to life in a new and innovative way. This will likely be one of the coolest roller coasters Disney has ever built. It will give the new Phineas and Ferb roller coaster a run for its money.
