Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster is widely recognized as one of the most intense rides in all of Disney World. In fact, it’s the only ride at Disney World that has an upside down loop. However, it’s not the fastest ride at Disney World. Test Track is faster, but not as exhilarating. Well, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster got far more intense yesterday as guests were stuck upside down for 12 hours.
Every day, scary things happen at Disney World. Whether it’s a full-on brawl over a popcorn bucket or a child floating away holding Mickey Balloons, crazy things happen. Sometimes at Disney World, you need to expect the unexpected. That’s exactly what happened when guests were stranded upside down on the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster for 12 hours.
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Stuck Upside Down
Roller coasters getting stuck upside down is not a common occurrence, but it can happen. In fact, it just recently happened at a fair in Wisconsin. However, in this case, the guests were only stuck upside down for just over three hours. That is still a very long time to be stuck upside down, however, it doesn’t compare to being stuck upside down for 12 hours. That is a long time in a very uncomfortable position.
How did the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster get stuck upside down? According to an official spokesperson, there was a mechanical failure on the ride. Because of this, the super stretch limo ended up getting stuck around the third loop, which is technically a corkscrew. The good news about being stuck on this loop is not all guests were upside down. Only the middle eight rows were upside down, which is still the majority of riders.
The Reedy Creek Fire Department was dispatched to help evacuate the ride. However, according to the spokesperson, they were unable to safely remove passengers from the upside down car. Because of this, they needed to mechanically fix the ride in order to rescue the riders. Unfortunately, the ride took 12 hours to fix, which is why the riders were stranded for so long.
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Aftermath
Fortunately, none of the riders stuck upside down suffered any serious injuries. While they were stuck, Disney gave the riders water and food. Upon finishing the evacuation, guests were given a free Lightning Lane pass for Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, valid for one week. This is standard practice when a ride gets stuck at any Disney park. However, typically the Lightning Lane pass is only good for that day, not an entire week.
We reached out to a few guests who were stuck upside down for 12 hours on Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. According to them, it was one of the most painful things in their life. They mentioned it was incredibly uncomfortable and a long time to be stuck. They were also insulted that Disney only gave them one Lightning Lane despite being stuck upside down for 12 hours and missing out on their plans inside the park that day.
While Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster getting stuck upside down for 12 hours again is unlikely, many guests are afraid to go on the ride now. Guests don’t think that the risk of getting stuck upside down is worth the experience. In fact, experts are predicting the wait times for Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster will be at an all-time low for the next few weeks because of this scary incident. An internal source mentioned to us that this should never happen again, but that doesn’t seem to be putting people at ease.
