Waffle House Replacing Casey’s Corner at Magic Kingdom

Casey's Corner closing and will soon be a Waffle House

Waffle House is one of the most popular and fastest-growing fast food chains in the United States. Every year, Waffle House brings in more revenue than the last. On top of that, it consistently ranks high in customer satisfaction. Not only is it great food, but also great service. Because of this, Disney will be closing Casey’s Corner and replacing it with a Waffle House in The Magic Kingdom.

Waffle House is an iconic American diner chain that is loved by customers for its hearty and delicious breakfast food. The restaurant is known for its classic Southern-style menu, which features a variety of waffles, pancakes, omelets, and other breakfast staples. Waffle House has over 2,000 locations in 25 states. In fact, there’s even a Waffle House close to Disney off I-4 and Vineland Road. However, soon you won’t have to drive that far for Waffle House while vacationing at Disney.

The announcement to close Casey’s Corner and reopen it as a Waffle House might come as a shock and surprise to many. Casey’s Corner is one of the most popular quick-service restaurants in Magic Kingdom. It’s known for its classic American fare including hot dogs, french fries, corn dog nuggets, and more. The corn dog nuggets are by far the most popular item at Casey’s Corner. Guests love eating corn dog nuggets in the Hub at the Magic Kingdom. It’s a well-known and well-loved Disney aesthetic.

The addition of Waffle House to Disney World comes after a new agreement was reached to bring the fast food giant into their parks. The agreement apparently specifies multiple Waffle House locations to be built on Disney World property, however, at this moment we are only aware of the one coming to Main Street USA. We are expecting Disney World to add Waffle Houses to all of their parks eventually.

Disney is not new to having fast food restaurants in their parks. From 1997-2010, Disney had Mcdonald’s Inside their parks. This was an incredible partnership. There was nothing better than getting McDonald’s french fries after riding Splash Mountain. Sadly, that partnership ended. Disney also has plans to put a Taco Bell where Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn is, as we reported here. However, that’s a one-off location. It begs the question, is Waffle House the next big Disney partnership?

Why is Disney Replacing Casey’s Corner?

Disney has decided that their first on-property Waffle House would be best suited for Main Street USA. The new Waffle House will have a diner vibe to it. As you saw, the concept art for the exterior is above. We also have initial concept art to share of the Waffle House interior below.

According to an internal source, Disney explored putting Waffle House in Tomorrowland and Frontierland but didn’t feel it would fit with the vibe of those areas. They ultimately landed on Main Street USA as the most fitting location.

Disney determined they couldn’t destroy the Emporium. The Plaza restaurant and Starbucks (which now offers Lightning Lane) were also off-limits. There was no way they were going to destroy the new Dental office coming to Main Street either. Ultimately, through the process of elimination, Casey’s Corner was the only viable location to close and be replaced with a Waffle House.

The Waffle Houses inside Disney World will have a very similar menu to most Waffle Houses. The main addition will be Disney’s special menu items. This is similar to the futuristic Starbucks coming to Tomorrowland, which we reported on here. They will serve Waffle House versions of Mickey Waffles. They will also offer Mickey Eggs.

Our favorite menu item specific to Disney World Waffle Houses is “The Gaston”. That will be a plate of 5 dozen eggs, which is a total of 60 eggs, nothing else. The Gaston offers a one-person challenge. If someone is able to successfully eat all 5 dozen eggs by themself, they will get a free Gaston T-Shirt, as well as free Lightning Lane passes for their group for that day. On top of all of that, the Magic Kingdom Waffle House will be open 24 hours a day! Even if the park is closed, the Waffle House will still be open for guests.

It’s certainly sad to see Casey’s Corner destroyed and replaced with a Waffle House. However, it’s a Waffle House. You can expect amazing food with great service. You might even catch Trevor Lawrence in there. We are excited to find out more about future Waffle Houses coming to Disney World and where they will be located.

Hate the idea Casey’s is always a must do every trip. Not liking all the changes. Doubt breakfast all day is going to sell more then Casey’s.

Hate this idea. Casey’s is a Disney icon. I can’t see Waffle House serving the amount of people Casey’s does.
