Disney World will no longer celebrate Halloween. This is due to the “controversial nature of Halloween”. This means that Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party is canceled moving forward.
However, many people are wondering what is controversial about Halloween. According to an internal source, there are two reasons why Disney is canceling Halloween.
The first reason is it is a holiday that promotes cultural appropriation. Essentially, people dress up and pretend to be people they aren’t. This oftentimes happens in a cultural sense and can be extremely offensive to others.
For example, dressing as Pochahontas may offend some white women. The other reason it’s being canceled is because of the religious aspect of Halloween. It actually has catholic origins, celebrated as All Hallow’s Eve, the vigil before All Saints’ Day.
This comes as no surprise that Disney is canceling yet another holiday that has Christian roots. We saw this with Disney canceling Christmas, which we reported on here.
Overall, people are not happy about this. Halloween used to be the one holiday that everyone could celebrate together. Now, Disney is ruining that for all of us.
This is especially surprising because Disney makes so much money off of Halloween-themed merchandise and Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party tickets.
