Disney World fireworks will no longer be free. Starting this summer, Disney will charge guests $50 per person to watch their fireworks.

This new rule applies to both Magic Kingdom and EPCOT firework shows. With this change, the fireworks will start 60 minutes after the parks close. This gives Disney time to make sure that only paying guests are in the parks for the fireworks.

This will be similar to their special ticket events, like Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. You must make a reservation online to watch the fireworks. You can do this weeks in advance or day of.
Then, your reservation will be linked to your My Disney Experience account. Once the park closes, Disney will scan MagicBands to ensure that only the people in the park have paid to see the fireworks.
Anyone else will be promptly escorted out of the parks, even people waiting in lines for rides. Disney will also be adding large walls so people can’t just stand outside the park and watch them for free.
Charging for fireworks is a way for Disney to make more money. Also, many guests complain about the huge crowds for the shows and that there isn’t enough viewing area.
Forcing people to pay will lead to fewer people in the park. This, in turn, will create better viewing for the fireworks.Â
