A Lilo and Stitch roller coaster is coming to Disney World. It will be called Lilo & Stitch Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride.
The ride will be a standing roller coaster, where guests actually stand up while they ride. It begins indoors, in Lilo’s house, where guests are introduced to Stitch who mischievously hijacks the ride.
Suddenly, the lights flicker, and Stitch takes over, launching the surfboards out of the house and into the Hawaiian waves. Guests then “surf” along the coast, with the wind in their hair and the smell of saltwater in the air.
Animatronics of Lilo, Nani, and other characters cheer guests on from the shore, as they pass by beautiful waterfalls and lush tropical scenery. At one point the track suddenly dips and twists as the surfboards plunge into a massive wave tunnel.
The lighting and projection effects make guests feel as though they are inside a giant, swirling wave. Here, Stitch occasionally appears, surfing alongside in various hilarious poses, sometimes upside down or spinning wildly.
At the end, Lilo and Stitch are seen relaxing on the beach, finally enjoying a peaceful moment. As the surfboards come to a stop, Stitch waves goodbye, reminding guests that Ohana means family.
Of course, the soundtrack of the ride will be the song Hawiian Roller Coaster Ride from the movie. This new ride has guests excited. This is almost as exciting as the new Monsters Inc. Roller Coaster ride, which we reported on here.
