Disney World may be one of the most magical places on earth, however, it’s also one of the most dangerous places in the world. No, we aren’t talking about a man losing his hands on Space Mountain. That is dangerous, however, that’s not the main issue. Each year, thousands of crimes happen inside Disney World, which is why Disney is adding rooftop snipers for extra security.
At Disney World, crimes happen on a daily basis. In fact, many people compare Disney World to Baltimore, Maryland, one of the most dangerous cities in the United States. This is partially due to the massive increase in shoplifting. However, fights at Disney World are exponentially on the rise. It’s a combination of these elements which is why Disney is adding snipers to the roofs inside their parks.
Snipers Inside Disney World?!
Imagine walking down Main Street USA and you see a sniper hiding behind the spires of Cinderella Castle. You don’t know if he’s aiming his sniper barrel at you or someone else. This is a huge cause of concern for many. However, it’s worth noting that these rooftop snipers at Disney World are highly trained and will only take the shot if directed and have a clear shot. There shouldn’t be much to worry about or fear.
According to a source familiar with the matter, Disney is struggling to control the safety of guests inside their theme parks. This is due to the significant rise in crimes as we mentioned earlier. Disney has undercover security as well as police officers that roam the parks, however, that’s not proving to be enough. The number of fights and amount of theft inside Disney keeps rising, forcing Disney to take a fresh approach to security, in the form of snipers on the roof.
The rooftop snipers will be mostly hidden from view, however, if you look closely, you will likely be able to spot a sniper inside Disney World parks. They will be hidden in all of the parks: Animal Kingdom, Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, and Hollywood Studios. The snipers will also be hidden in the different lands of each park. For example, according to our source, there will be two snipers on the Tower of Terror roof and will have a clear shot at many areas of Hollywood Studios. There will also be snipers hiding on top of Space Mountain.
Disney World Rooftop Sniper Controversy
As you may imagine, hiding snipers inside Disney World theme parks has raised a lot of concern. Many people are worried that they are in danger of being shot at Disney for no reason. However, a spokesperson said, “Our snipers are highly trained. They will only take a shot if and when needed. There is a very small chance that someone gets shot accidentally.” This of course still doesn’t put many people at ease.
On the other hand, there are quite a few guests who are in support of Disney adding snipers to their theme parks. They recognize how dangerous it can be inside Disney World. They will feel much safer if Disney has trained snipers on the roofs inside their parks. In fact, they are hopeful that just the presence of snipers on the roof makes people behave better and reduces the number of crimes committed inside the Disney parks.
It’s not clear if the snipers will be a permanent addition to the Disney World parks or not. Many are speculating that Disney is only doing this for a short period of time until crime starts to decline again in their parks. Disney is hoping the snipers never need to take a shot and that people will be deterred from committing crimes by the mere presence of snipers. However, for now, snipers are being deployed inside Disney World to maintain peace and order.
