A Titanic freefall water ride is officially coming to Disney World. This new ride will have a drop where the vehicle isn’t attached to any track.
It will be one of the most thrilling rides at Disney World, almost as thrilling as the roller coaster that jumps the track, which we reported on here. Because Disney owns the rights to the Titanic, this makes it the perfect theme for the ride.
It will named The Titanic Adventure and start with guests joining Jack and Rose as they enjoy their cruise on the Titanic. You will follow their love story throughout the ride until you hit the climax. When the Titanic strikes the iceberg, that’s when the thrill begins. This is when the ride goes into free-fall mode.
The ride vehicle completely disconnects from the track and free falls into the water about 75 feet below. This is a slightly larger drop height than Splash Mountain. The boat then gets back on track where you experience the rest of the movie. Guests then see Jack die and Rose get saved.
This will be one of the saddest Disney rides, but also one of the most exciting rides. Despite this, some people are worried about the safety of this ride. They see it as potentially dangerous. However, Disney always inspects rides thoroughly and will ensure the safety of all guests.
There is no set timeline for a ride of this magnitude to open. However, an internal source is hoping for a 2027 opening date. That’s the 30th anniversary of the Titanic movie, released on December 19, 1997. This Titanic ride will be located at Hollywood Studios, making it the first water ride there.
