Taylor Swift’s wedding will be broadcast live on Disney+. According to an internal source, Disney will pay them $20 million to broadcast their wedding.
Our source mentioned that multiple companies were bidding on the rights to the wedding. Apparently, CBS, NBC, Netflix, Paramount, and Disney were all offering money to stream the wedding.
However, ultimately Disney won by offering the most money for it. Originally, the wedding was planned to take place in Disney World, which we reported on here. However, due to logistical issues, Swift and Kelce have chosen a different location for their wedding.
Despite this, Disney will still be involved in the wedding now that they are broadcasting it live on Disney+. They expect this to be one of the largest live, televised events in the history of television. Disney believes that this will draw more viewers than the Super Bowl or World Cup.
This is why they are spending so much to air it exclusively on Disney+. They are hoping to see an increase in subscribers by at least 40%, just to watch the wedding.
Our source mentioned that Disney will sell advertising slots during the wedding, which will allow them to make even more money on the wedding. In fact, advertisers are likely to pay more than for a Super Bowl commercial.
