A man was decapitated on Space Mountain. According to official reports, the man’s head was cut clean off when passing under the track at a high speed. (Make sure to follow us on Instagram here to stay up to date on all Disney news!)
Apparently, his lapbar came loose during the middle of the ride, so he decided to stand up. Witnesses in the same car as him said the man shouted “Look at me, I’m surfing through space”, right before tragedy struck.
It was one of the witnesses’ first times ever on Space Mountain. Initially, they thought it was normal to stand and when his blood splattered, they thought it was a water effect. It wasn’t until the end of the ride that they realized the man’s head was sliced clean off.
This is very similar to the man who lost his hands on Space Mountain, which we reported on here. Unfortunately, the man was pronounced dead at a local hospital. This death forced Disney to shut down the ride for a few hours to clean the ride vehicle, track, and do an investigation.
On top of that, they had to search to make sure they found all of his teeth, which were scattered at the bottom of the ride. This will certainly go down as one of the most gruesome things to happen at Disney World.
In fact, the family is looking for lawyers who want to take this case. However, many people say that common sense tells you not to stand up on a Disney World ride, especially Space Mountain.
