A former Disney World Cast Member has just shared with us one of the scariest interactions at Disney World with The Haunted Mansion at Disney World. Here is their story:
I’ve worked at the Haunted Mansion for five years, and I’ve seen my fair share of strange things, but nothing like this one night. I was working in the control room and noticed a young couple boarding their Doom Buggy, smiling and holding hands.
As I watched them, something just seemed off. I couldn’t put my finger on it, but my gut told me something was not right. I watched the cameras, keeping an eye on each buggy as they passed through the different rooms.
Everything seemed normal—until their buggy reached the graveyard scene. The entire ride lost power for a second and everything stopped. This power outage caused the video feed to cut out as well. When the power came back on, the buggy was empty.
I thought maybe they’d gotten out, which is strictly against the rules. I immediately radioed to my boss and told the operators to keep the ride in a holding pattern as I looked through the cameras to find this couple. I searched every angle, even called security to check the backstage hallways.
As we reviewed the footage, right before the cameras glitched, a shadowy figure appeared behind them—just for a split second—and then they were gone. We evacuated the ride and shut it down for the rest of the day. We searched for the couple everywhere. They never showed up. In fact, no one has reported them missing. It’s like they were never here at all. That is the scariest thing I have ever seen.
