Did you know that Minnie Mouse isn’t her actual name? Minnie is actually just a nickname. Originally, when Walt Disney created her, she had a different name.

It was much longer and didn’t sound as friendly. His wife, Lillian, gave him this feedback, and he decided to shorten it to Minnie. This is a similar story to Mickey Mouse, where his original name was actually Mortimer Mouse.

However, Lillian also said that his name wasn’t very good, so he changed it to Mickey. Many people are familiar with this story, but almost no one knows that Minnie Mouse has a full name.
Her given name by Walt Disney is actually Minerva. However, unlike Mortimer, Walt actually liked this name and didn’t want to lose it. Instead of completely changing her name, he decided to call her Minnie, but decided to keep her full name as Minverva.
To this date, there is only one Mickey Mouse cartoon where he calles her Minerva Mouse. In this scene, Mickey is upset with her for being late for a date. When she shows up he says, “Minerva Mouse, where have you been? I’ve been waiting for you for over an hour.”
However, this episode has been scrubbed from the internet because it contains “problematic scenes”. Despite this, Minerva is still the full name of Minnie Mouse, but almost no one knows it.
