Disney and NASCAR partner up for a real-life Piston Cup. In 2026, NASCAR will host the first-ever Piston Cup at Daytona, replacing the Daytona 500.
All of the racecars will be designed to look like cars from the movie Cars. For example, Lightning McQueen, Chick Hicks, Jackson Storm, and more will be represented. Each NASCAR driver will drive a character from the movie Cars.
The winner will receive a Piston Cup trophy and get to fly in one of them fancy helicopters after the race alongside Mater. On top of that, Disney will have Darrell Cartrip and Bob Cutlass do the announcing for the race.
This will include in-booth scenes where you see the actual cars from the movie series announcing. This will be similar to the Disney+ NFL broadcasts, which showed animated characters playing the live NFL game.
The goal of this is to get more young fans into NASCAR. On top of that, this partnership is being used to promote Cars 4, which will be released in 2026. Also, this will air exclusively on Disney+, which will generate significant revenue for Disney.
This is expected to be one of the best partnerships Disney has ever done. It’s not only extremely unique and fun, it’s also very immersive. They are truly bringing the world of Cars into the real world of NASCAR racing.
Overall, everyone is excited about this and people are saying this is one of the smartest ideas ever. The only downside is the Daytona 500 in 2026 will only be on Disney+.
