Here is the first look at the new Mary Poppins ride coming to Disney World. This will be the first ride ever where an animatronic joins you for the ride.
At the beginning of the ride, a Mary Poppins animatronic descends from the ceiling on a swing and into your ride boat. She then guides you through the ride, talking to you and singing songs as you go.
Mary Poppins will sing you some of the most popular songs from the movie, including Chim Chim Cher-ee, A Spoonful of Sugar, and Spercalifragilisticexpialidocious. Along the way, you will cross paths with Michael and Jane Banks, Bert, the chimney sweepers, and of course, the dancing penguins.
It will be a similar experience to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, with multiple drops on the ride. Then, on the final drop, Mary Poppins will fly away with her umbrella, leaving the boat.
This attraction will be extremely impressive as there has never been an animatronic that joins riders mid-ride, talks and sings with them, and leaves at the end. This means Disney will need multiple animatronics, so each boat that passes by has one in it.
It will be called Mary Poppins Blown Away and will be located in Hollywood Studios. It will be built near the Indian Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular, which fits with that area of the park. There is no set timing on when it will open, but people are hoping for a 2028 opening.
