Home Alone is one of the most popular Christmas movies of all time. In fact, it’s widely considered better than Elf, The Santa Clause, and Polar Express. It’s truly an iconic movie that captures the hearts of millions of families every Christmas. Because of this, a new Home Alone roller coaster is coming to Disney World.

Despite Disney canceling Christmas in 2024, which we reported on here, they have plans for a new Polar Express roller coaster. In fact, you can read about that here. Many people are excited about that new ride. This excitement has led Disney down the Christmas path again, with the announcement of the new Home Alone roller coaster.
Disney Building Home Alone Roller Coaster
Home Alone: Setting The Trap, is the newest project set to begin construction at Disney World. This will be a roller coaster based on the hit movie Home Alone. Essentially, guests join Kevin McCallister as he sets traps to protect his house from the Wet Bandits. At the beginning of the ride, you see Kevin put on the final touches to his traps, and then the excitement begins.

The rest of the ride is a high-speed roller coaster where you avoid the traps and nearly get caught by Harry and Marv. In fact, at one point, you nearly miss getting hit in the head with paint cans. Near the end of the ride, there is a roller coaster zipline experience where you go from the house to the tree house. As expected, many other parts of the movie will be represented in this new roller coaster.
Home Alone: Setting The Trap is full of twists, turns, sudden drops, and stops. In fact, Disney will use a similar ride system to Guardians of The Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. This is widely regarded as one of the best roller coasters in all of Disney. From the smoothness of the ride to the thrilling backward slingshot, it’s a winner. Disney is using many similar mechanics in the new Home Alone roller coaster.
Additional Home Alone Ride Information
The new Home Alone roller coaster will be located in Hollywood Studios. It will be behind Animation Courtyard. This gives Disney a lot of room to work with to make a rather large roller coaster. In fact, according to an internal source, it will be one of the longest roller coasters at Disney. They are going to maximize the space to make it both long and thrilling.

It’s worth noting that the exterior building for the ride will look just like the Home Alone house. It will have an amazing visual presence as you walk up to the ride. Meanwhile, the inside of the ride will resemble the inside of the house. Disney Imagineers will add many small details to the ride too like The Grinch on TV, a hidden gold tooth, and more.
Home Alone: Setting The Trap is expected to break ground by the end of the year. It’s set to open in 2030, assuming all goes well with construction. If they can finish it on time, this new ride will open just in time to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Home Alone. However, recently Disney has been taking extra long on new projects, just to disappoint. Only time will tell if this new Home Alone roller coaster will hit the mark.
