The Haunted Mansion will be rethemed to a Cars ride. This is to help it fit in better with Cars Land, coming to the Magic Kingdom.
The new ride will be called Mater’s Mysterious Mansion. It will take riders on a spooky journey with Tow Mater as your guide. The ride track and layout will remain the same, but the animatronics and ride scenes will all be themed to the movie Cars.
For example, Madame Leota will be rethemed to a GPS that glitches and sends you in the wrong directions. Then, the ballroom scene will be replaced with ghost cars driving around roundabouts and through stoplights.
In the graveyard scene, Mater will take you tractor tipping, but make sure you watch out for Frank. Lastly, the Hitchhiking Ghosts will be replaced with Hitchhiking Cars, which will follow you home. Overall, people are excited for a Cars ride to replace the Haunted Mansion.
They feel that the ride is outdated and the theme is a bit stale. They also think that Mater’s Mysterious Mansion will fit nicely in Piston Peak. However, diehard lovers of the Haunted Mansion are not happy that it is getting a retheme.
They see it as a classic attraction that Disney should not change. They don’t feel like that is something that Walt Disney would have wanted and it ruins his legacy.
