Disney officially cancels the Lizzo concert at Magic Kingdom

Disney World loves to provide guests with awesome and unforgettable experiences. For example, the Adult Only Days coming this fall, which we reported on here. Also, Throwback Thursdays, which offer guests huge discounts. However, one of the coolest experiences are the Castle Concerts. We just learned that the Lizzo concert scheduled at Disney World has just been canceled.

The Castle Concerts are truly an amazing experience. Guests get to see some of their favorite musical artists perform on Cinderella Castle stage inside the Magic Kingdom. The list includes some of the most famous artists in the world like Taylor Swift, Snoop Dogg, BTS, Post Malone, Lizzo, and more. However, the Lizzo concert has now been canceled due to the sexual harassment lawsuit and the new weight limits coming to Disney World rides.

Lizzo Concert Gets Canceled at Disney World

As we noted above, Lizzo was one of the artists expected to perform on Cinderella Castle stage. These concerts are only $145 per guest. It also comes with free food, drinks, and access to the Magic Kingdom for a few hours before the concert starts. However, due to sexual assault allegations, the Lizzo concert has been officially canceled by Disney. This comes as a disappointment to Lizzo fans, who were ready to see her twerk in front of Cinderella Castle.

According to The Associated Press, “Lizzo has been sued by three former dancers who accuse the Grammy winner of sexual harassment and allege the singer and her production company created a hostile work environment.” We won’t get into more details because this is a family website, however, Lizzo is in hot water with her fans and with the law.

Here is the official statement. “We have decided to cancel the Lizzo Castle Concert. While we looked forward to a big performance from Lizzo, we unfortunately have to cancel the show. All guests who bought tickets will be refunded.” The good news is that Disney will refund guests. Oftentimes when they cancel events, the tickets are non-refundable, and Disney doesn’t refund you. However, there is one more element to this story.

Lizzo Protesting New Ride Weight Limit

Prior to the concert being canceled, Lizzo and Disney were already in a dispute. The dispute was over the new weight limit that Disney is adding to many of their rides. You can read more about that here. Essentially, Disney is adding a weight limit of 180 pounds or less to many of their rides. Clearly, Lizzo weighs more than 180 pounds and she was not happy with this new policy.

According to an official statement, “Lizzo is highly considering canceling her Castle Concert. She finds the new weight limit on Disney rides insulting to everyone. If Disney doesn’t backtrack on this decision, she may cancel.” Lizzo wasn’t happy with this new weight limit and neither was the general public based on the backlash from our video about it.

Lizzo never canceled her concert because of the new ride weight limit, but certainly put pressure on Disney. However, her sexual assault lawsuit seemed to put the nail in the coffin. The feud with Disney, plus these allegations, is enough for Disney to officially cancel the Lizzo Castle Concert. The good news is other amazing performers will still be taking the stage at Disney World.
